What does "a Karen" mean?

Just read an article in a newspaper regarding a court case where the judge took exception to somebody describing a woman as "a Karen" - obviously her name wasn't Karen.

This must be a thing but never heard it before. What does it mean?

Apparently, the male equivalent of a “Karen” is a “Carl”. I know a few Karens and Carls and they don’t appreciate their name being used as a stereotype. I don’t blame them. And I know a Dick who probably isn’t thrilled either lol

@BiasForAction That's what confused me. The case was really interesting but the article didn't explain what Karen meant or why the judge objected to it.

I feel sorry for any woman called Karen who's tarred with the same brush

@BiasForAction I thought the male equivalent was a Kevin.

Actually, I don’t think there is any one male equivalent.
