I've often questioned myself, about just why I do that. I don't just do when looking for an address, but about any time a driving situation becomes more stressful than 'average'. Something about being able to concentrate better, I think...along with being able to see better. 😬

The older we get, the less flexible our eyeball lenses become stiffer, which reduces our range of focus. If you're near-sighted like most of us, glasses give you distance vision; flexibility of lenses gives you close vision. As you lose the flexibility you need bifocals and/or removing the distance lenses to get close focus.
