Constructive critique or contempt?

A lecturer at my uni criticizes me constantly. I find his critique very helpful, but it's like 90% of the time. But, despite that, he always finds time for me. How to see if his critique is constructive critisism or if I'm just getting on his nerves?
I would like to ask him for help with an application but kinda have a feeling it would disturb him and he wants me to stop contacting him.
Should I write him?

Does he have consultation hours?

@helenS No, I officially don't have anything to do with him anymore. 3 years ago, I had classes with him, but since then I'm a PhD student in another project and I just reach out to him independently.

@LillyJulia But didn't you say he criticises you all the time? And he always finds time for you???

@helenS Yes, that's why I'm asking the question... It's confusing, isn't it?

@LillyJulia Yes, confusing, to put it mildly 😏

@helenS So what do you think? Will he feel disturbed if I write him about the application?

@LillyJulia Why don't you just find out? What's the worst that could happen?
