are most domestic abusers

Are most domestic abusers narcissists or personality disordered?

What is the correlation between the two?

Narcissism and abusive behavior are related yet not the same things. Sometimes narcissism is a result of abusive behavior, yet not always. Where abusive behavior can be a result of many things. Drug addiction of many kinds is often the result of abusive behavior. Yet previous abuse's could be result of that behavior or even extreme trauma.

Narcissism, on the other hand, no real abusive behavior might have occurred. You might see this in the very wealthy children when they have received little parental supervision or have little real parental figures.

Yet even this is not always true for the latchkey kids of the 1960s were often a bit narcissistic because of lack of wealth. They had to do things by trial and error on their own with no one else to guide them.

Actually I was one of those latchkey kids. And yes I had learn a way around becoming too narcissistic. Yet that became unnecessary when I went into the Air force.

Narcissistic behavior is highly discouraged in any "enlisted" military service. Yet ironically encouraged in the commissioned military ranks.

I must stress this ... Narcissism really is encouraged in higher ranks just by the lack of fraternizing with lower ranks. This also applies in the business world.

So are all leaders narcissist? Overall they do tend to be. Yet again not always. The best leaders actually understand that tendency and attempt to avoid being too narcissistic.

Yet the problem of narcissism in business has a lot to do in how narcissist's are raised as well as trained. So it is a learned behavior.

Could go on and on about narcissism!

Some of it though can be extremely ugly types. While domestic abusers can be very ugly, they have no comparison to how ugly a narcissist can become simply because a extreme narcissist has no compassion for anything.

Torture type cruelty is often a narcissist behavior rather than domestic abuse behavior.

People bring their childhood baggage with them into their adult relationships. So, a person might be fearful of being abandoned and resort to violence in an attempt to force the other person to remain in the relationship.
