If you were friends with someone that had their kids taken away by child protective service for being on drugs would you stop being their friend?

My ex had custody of our daughters when she got heavily addicted, I try to be helpful and supportive by bringing my daughters to see her, but she hasn't changed her ways in over 6 years now, in & out of prison for thefts and possessions, I rarely speak with her anymore.
