Solar storm knocks out 40 newly launched satellites from Elon Musk's SpaceX

I have been saying for years, how will Earth fare if a Solar Flare knocked out a large number of Satellites?
A geomagnetic storm triggered by a large burst of radiation from the Sun has disabled at least 40 of the 49 satellites newly launched by SpaceX as part of its Starlink internet communications network.
It marked the single greatest loss of satellites from a solar storm, and the first mass satellite failure caused by an increase in atmospheric density, as opposed to bombardment of charged particles and electromagnetic radiation itself.

They obviously didn't do any tempst type tests.

Tempst tests are tests made under many different conditions. And this problem happens when you don't do it. Cost effectiveness over quality, in other words they rushed it! 馃様

Just a simple shield like on the new telescope except cheaper would have blocked those solar flares.

@DeWayfarer Yep. Cost cutting has now cost them much more.

@Gusman hope they learn from this. Would hate to be on the sun side of the moon without such shielding. Like he is planning for in the future.
