The force that keeps the water in the pond so frogs can live in it.....
TBIman · 41-45, M
@ArishMell Gravity is not a force. Gravity is pseudo-science.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@TBIman Why "pseudo science"?

Whatever you call it, you can't just sneer at it.

You can't just dismiss our weight, or that released objects fall, unless you can present a alternative, plausible, testable hypothesis to explain the obvious effects of what everyone else calls "gravity".

So if as you say, there is no such thing as "gravity", what is "there" instead?

(The frog in the photo does have mass as you'd see if you put it on a spring-balance in the air; but when submerged it is more or less neutrally bouyant - but you can't explain bouyancy without either gravity or your hypothesised alternative.
TBIman · 41-45, M
@ArishMell Gravity is pseudo-science because it has never been proven. I am not dismissing our weight. Weight is the reason why things fall down and not up.

Dude, I'm just a brain-damaged, high school dropout. So I cannot explain anything to you, who appears to be a high-level globe believer.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@TBIman I don't think you are unintelligent, if that is what you mean.

And I am not ever so highly educated. I did not drop out of school but left only with several basic, standard examination certificates, but I never attended university. My working life was at "shop-floor" level although in engineering and science related trades. I have though always had a broad interest in science and engineering, and about 15 years ago I suppose, I completed a course in Geology.

What you can tell me is what you believe; but so far you have not explained what you think are the correct interpretations of the Laws of Nature. Nor why.

'
So...

Weight is not related to falling. Drop a tennis-ball and a cannon-ball at the same instant from the same height, and though they are of very different mass, hence weight, they will accelerate at the same rate, and will hit the floor at the same time. You can prove that for yourself, with suitable objects not affected significantly by air resistance, by very simple experiments at home. A tennis-ball and a large fishing-weight, perhaps; or a small block of wood and a brick.

Galileo Galilei is cited as having famously proved that publicly, using a bag of feathers, not a tennis ball.

He also discovered the principle of the pendulum; which is related to length and gravity, but not mass. That discovery paved the way to making clocks that keep reasonably good time: previous ones used an inertial movement that was very inaccurate even by the best metal-working standards available in that era.

Weight is simply mass times the acceleration due to local gravity, wherever you are: it's about one-sixth on the Moon of its mean Earth value. You cannot deny that basic Law, first investigated properly by Isaac Newton and now taught in school-level science! It works, everywhere, even perhaps at quantum level, which is a world of its own anyway.

@ArishMell I am liking this way of communication. It's kinda like E-mail but not. You seem to be a highly intelligent man.

You seem to be hung up on this pseudo-force called gravity. You won't believe me, but there is no such thing as "Gravity." Gravity is simply weight. Orbits are an impossibility.

You are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. This is probably because of your education, which taught you that there must be gravity because the Earth is a ball. And if the Earth were a ball, I'd agree. The problem is that the Earth is 100% NOT a ball. The Earth is not a ball because no one can measure even an inch of curvature.

How do you KNOW that Galileo, or Newton even existed? They could just be made-up characters to make you believe that you dwell upon a spinning ball.

I only know one law of nature... which is "what goes up must come down." That is a fundamental fact of the reality that we find ourselves in at the moment.

Listen to me, please. Gravity DOES NOT EXIST. Please stop bringing up the pseudo-force called Gravity. I know that you desperately need it in the heliocentric model. I happen to know... for a fact... that heliocentrism is wrong. We are in a Geocentric system. Proven by observations done for hundreds if not thousands of years.

@TBIman ElwoodBlues has shown you, on this thread, that gravity is curved spacetime.

I have paraphrased it as: Mass bends space, and space shows mass how to move

I cannot find where you have responded to this...
@newjaninev2 Some people are proud not to be science literate or they’re pretending. Based on past posts, it seems we have another attention seeker.
TBIman · 41-45, M
@newjaninev2 I'm sorry if I missed a comment on two. I have the time to reply, but most of the comments on my posts are ridiculous. People want to critique my grammar instead of refuting the information.

I do not believe in "spacetime". Mass does NOT bend anything. Can you prove that mass bends anything?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@ArishMell I was going to include the Apollo 15 experiment with the feather and hammer, but I'm afraid your interlocutor would say that humans have never been to the moon.
TBIman · 41-45, M
@Bushranger No way people have been to the moon. Show me proof of the moon landing, please.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@TBIman and both your claims are shown false...

newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@TBIman Tell me how the laser reflector got there... it has been there for over 50 years
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 Obviously they aren't there, it's all part of the globe earth conspiracy. Conspiracy nuts are just that.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Bushranger Buzz Aldrin knew how to give them a reality check 😂

@newjaninev2 Need more people like him.

I like the story that the moon landing was filmed by Stanley Kubrik. But because of Kubrick's desire for realism in his movies, he filmed it on the moon.

But seriously, there's enough evidence to confirm there has been more than one moon landing to convince anyone with some degree of intelligence.
TBIman · 41-45, M
@Bushranger I would love to see any evidence that humans have been to the moon. Please send me a link to the evidence. Thanks.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@TBIman Evidence you would claim is fake/CGI, etc. I know you won't accept anything from NASA, or any other space agency, so why waste my time.

But I'll do a deal with you. You have made a claim that gravity doesn't exist and things fall because of weight. Give me your proof of that and I'll send you links to photos taken on the moon.

@MarmeeMarch How do you know that it was a moon rock? It could have been petrified wood.

I know that it's a hard pill to swallow but you fell for a deception that the whole world also fell for.

It'll be okay man. Take it slow, and I will be here to answer all of your questions... if I can.
TBIman · 41-45, M
@Bushranger Dude, no one has ever been to that light in our night sky that we call the moon. NASA faked it so that you would believe that it was possible for people to walk on a ball.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@TBIman
Can you prove that mass bends anything?
Yes

You have yet to answer mine.
