Why would anyone lie about the shape of The Earth?🤔

I asked that of a Flat Earther - what does is serve the government or science to convince the public that a flat earth was actually a sphere? After waiting a few minutes he replied enigmatically, "control". I think all of them became so enamoured of a bonkers conspiracy theory that they forgot to ask "why?"

Because they like to talk about subjects with which they are not personally acquainted. I mean, you wanna talk about world shape then go be a physicist IMO.
