I don’t know how people can seriously believe the end times are near 😂

After all the end of the world predictions we’ve gotten over the years and how all these terrible disasters were supposed to be a “sure sign” that the end is coming, I don’t see how anyone can actually believe in any of this nonsense. 🤣 I swear, people are just going to keep on saying it until it eventually happens just so they can be the ones who will be able to say “See, I was right all along!” You know, like your typical armchair theorist. 🤪

Jim Morrison said it best decades ago:

There's a sense of importance that comes with being the generation to witness the end of days, and a lot of people like to latch onto that.

Totally disagree with you..

Usually people who adopt your attitude once believed in an end times theory and a date set by some false prophet.. When the end did not happen when they believed it would they switch to the position that anyone who believes the end times are near are fools.. All the while denying they once believed in an end times prediction that failed..

@Ducky There are two lessons of the parable.. The one you suggested and that the villagers ended up not believing the real report of danger when it arrived and lost a child because they ended up disbelieving the true report of danger..

@Adstar And you still have not elaborated on what it is you’re getting at, so I’ll take that as a no. I’ve nothing else to say to you.

@Ducky If you cannot figure it all out after i have given you all that info then your conclusion is correct.. We have nothing else to discuss.. 🙂

All the world's religions, have some version of the end of the world, or in some cases, where good triumphs over evil, once and for all.

Most scenarios involve ongoing life on earth, with evil gone. Nirvana.

Christianity, and by extension Islam, offer a different version, where it all goes to shit, and earth will cease to exist. Currently a couple of groups are actively seeking that end goal, and doing everything they possibly can to hasten it: Evangelicals and Iran's extreme Mullahs.
I have idealist eschatology. I don’t believe revelation represents literal events, but rather speaks of symbolic ones. The beast is really the sum of materialism, exploitation, statist abuses, globalism, and so on. The kingdom of heaven the society we create through compassionate and engaged action, improving society, the lives of those who are suffering.

The end of the world as we know it doesn’t mean the total annihilation of earth. Paradigm shift on a grand scale.
