that is sad. I am about an hour to 90 minutes form the Jersey beaches. It is soothing and comforting in a way that is hard to describe.

Personally speaking I've loved living close to the sea.
It does something to me that I don't get from anything else.
Might be the sound of the waves or the salt in the air or the Gulls noise....

@IsabellaJackson the ones near me are all very gentle waves as they are protected by surrounding islands.

@cd4259 the waves in my area are pretty gentle in general. nothing like what i've seen on the west coast of the us

I'm only a 15-minute bike ride from a great swimming beach. If today's weather is a harbinger of days to come, it's going to be a great summer for swimming.
