[image]For me its a cool clean river or lake. [image]
SweetMae · 70-79, F
Ocean. lake, river or pool. I love water.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@SweetMae yep that is a lovely spot especially with the top of the weir to jump off. Can be bit busy though
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@SweetMae do you have any favourite spots you head to for a dip
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Kerrmit84 Yes, the ocean.
it's winter he does his dipping in the bedroom. frequently if I must say
@Kerrmit84 best place for a hot summer night
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
[image deleted]@saragoodtimessomewhere like this? i can imagine. Bet you have some fun evenings in the pool
@Kerrmit84 a nice swim then sitting around the pool with a fire in the fire pit sipping wine or brandy. a perfect evening

Ocean, or lake. I will in a pool however if that's the only option I have.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@SW-User you got places nearby to go swimming?
SW-User
@Kerrmit84 No. I often just soak in my tub when it's too hot
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@SW-User lol much easier. I have a couple of river spots i use on running routes[image]
Magenta · F
Pool, river, sea.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@Magenta nice, do you have your own pool?
Magenta · F
@Kerrmit84 Non. I don't go like I once did. My sister and I used to go often.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@Magenta thats a shame, oh well just have to enjoy opportunity when it comes along
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Has to be the sea, because I can't swim in fresh water and can only just sort of swim, for very short distances, in sea-water - keeping very safely well within my depth.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Repete My problem too. I expend so much energy trying to keep on top of the water I can't sustain it for long. I tried taking swimming-lessons, always along the pool not across it because that would be in everyone else's way. I made hardly any progress though and eventually just had to give up.

I stayed in the side lane where I could stop and rest, using a little ledge to stand on. The middle lanes were occupied by various improvers who could swim complete lengths. The far two or three lanes were usually busy with several men who were all very fast swimmers able to do fancy things like somersault turns at the deep end and gliding a long way back underwater. They might have entered swimming competitions elsewhere, but these sessions were not competitive.

It was all rather like a little club, all very friendly, and on the last session before Christmas we stopped swimming early to enjoy a little buffet together.
Repete · 61-69, M
@ArishMell my swim test was in the Marine Corps boot camp 😂. I made it but they probably wouldn’t recommend me as a lifeguard at a small pool.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Repete I doubt I'd make the first day, let alone any swimming tests!
@Kerrmit84 i love both. mostly the waves though.
Keeper · M
@YourMomsSecretCrush I got destroyed at Wrightsville as soon as I moved here.

Lost my hat!
@Keeper thats an awesome beach !!!! beautiful area !!!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
The sea.

I have swum in rivers but I have to be careful as I am a poor swimmer so need stay in my depth. I'm not too far from good, safe beaches though.

I once found a lovely river spot where the water was about waist-deep over sand for a few yards, the rest being full of long plants. My vague doggy-paddle/sideways crawl of a stroke was about the same speed as the water so by facing up-stream I was more or less swimming on the spot.

A few years ago a friend and I went river-swimming over a long weekend. All went well until she fell horribly ill and I had to take her to hospital for tests for Weil's Disease. Fortunately she'd not contracted that, but her sickness was almost certainly from accidentally swallowing a bit of river. Even if sparkling clear, a mature river flowing past farms is naturally rich in micro-organisms.

I love to swim.
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M

Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@Repete yeah, you win that will be pretty cold!! Still worth a swim
Am ok with all four
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@Stillwaiting nice to have the option for all 4, river and sea are both within range for a run and a swim
@Kerrmit84 The ocean / sea is a couple hour drive and I like it best .. but am ok taking advantage of the opportunities when a good spot is available
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
@Stillwaiting exactly! You have to make the most of spontaneous swim opportunity when they arise
MrAboo · 36-40, M
I think I prefer the ocean, but I’d settle for a clean lake or river
