The Indian government just decriminalized child porn
BigBulge · 41-45, M
@MasterLee Yes. Almost all girls hit puberty around 10 and boys around 11. So, they are just naturally curious about sex at an early age.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@BigBulge doesn't mean they are ready

@MasterLee Er... ummm... that was not India, but Germany? The German parliament passed a law reducing sentences for possession and distribution of child pornography from almost a decade to mere months in May this year.

Meanwhile, the Indian Supreme court only yesterday made even accidental download, storage and even deletion of child pornography a criminal offence, making sure that just having it on your history can lead to punishment. This changed an earlier lower court order, which had ruled that only participation was an offence.

Also, porn sites are officially banned and around 827 main ones have been blocked by the Indian Dept. of Telecoms. Although access through VPNs is common and cannot be prevented.
Yes, there is a major issue with rape and violence in general in India- I recall when the Indian Government reinstituted the death penalty for rape.

The solution is bringing back Jury Trials. The English really were no better than modern India in terms of the appreciation and knowledge of the law under Henry II. Reason we went down this route of a jury of peers is to get everyone accustomed to the laws, being part and parcel to them, and accepting of the verdicts (because people just like them made the verdict).

I understand why India scrapped the jury system, but that is the exact reason why you should have it.

And westerners shouldn't just blindly stumble around India on their furst visit. I got a younger woman interested in philosophy, and she went to India (told her family, not me) and visited old buddhist sites, and one right after a Hindu nationalist bombed it. Then she needed medically evacuated because she decided to become spiritual (but not religious) and adopt a vegetarian diet, and the microbes in India devestated her immune system. This happens to Indian doctors living in the US too long, they return home for a visit and they get sick too.

US has a number of Hindu monasteries of a couple different denominations, I recommend Americans visit those first.

It’s not safe for solo female travelers. Sex in India is seen as a huge taboo , so that makes people more curious and more desperate for it. It obviously doesn’t justify the crimes, but it could explain part of it.

India has been this way a long time now. Why do people still go there!?

@shamsi then why leave it up?? duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
India is a popular destination for people seeking spiritual answers. It's known for the religious diversity and philosophy. That being said it definitely isn't safe for solo female travellers and that's a shame. It takes away from everything beautiful it has to offer when rape culture consumes all else.

India is far becoming a third world country as far as crime goes and their culture has always looked down on women as a whole and taking a white woman unfortunately is a status symbol in a lot of countries and it's just a sad fact of the world
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
How can you trust anything that person says?
Khenpal1 · M
