According to the Independent, senior figures in Rishi Sunak’s government are reportedly planning to move Britain into a Swiss-style relationship with the European Union.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt signalled last week that Mr Sunak’s administration intends to break ranks with Boris Johnson’s approach by removing the majority of trade barriers with the bloc.

What do my British friends think: is that a step forward in the right direction? Or is it the end of Britishness as we know it? Looking forward to your votes. 🌷

@Convivial It's doing what it was intended to do. it allows the government to abolish human rights and allows the rich to continue to avoid paying tax on their income. The rise in the cost of living etc. affecting mainly the ordinary family, is unimportant.

@Convivial So is the EU. A basically sensible idea gone hopelessly wrong.

It is not really surprising it is now in a corruption pickle, given its decades of encouraging massive lobbying, and banning its own accountants from investigating why its books rarely if ever balance.

All that was ever needed was a set of clear, straightforward treaties covering trade, diplomatic, financial, legal & security, and travel, co-operation; between a set of friendly but independent nations.

@ArishMell i can't argue with that... It's a clear and concise precis
