I was spanked and spank bare bottom. I know that the bare bottom spankings made a lot bigger impression on me! The immediate purpose of a spanking is to give, within reason, a good ouch. It is kind of counterproductive to do it over layers of insulation. Besides, the ouch of the spanking should not depend on what the child happens to be wearing at a particular time. I remember a particular pair of corduroy pants I would get into if I thought a spanking might be in the offing (perhaps that is why Mom started doing them bare bottom). All punishment is inherently embarrassing. I don't think it is unduly embarrassing for a child to briefly bare their rear, in private, to be disciplined by their mother-- who has washed and diapered them.

In our home it had been 4 months since there were any spankings. However last night our 14 yr old daughter Michelle got a good spanking. Over my knee, with knickers off and a mix of hand and slipper. I prefer bare because I can ensure there are no bruises or marks.

Well I thought the parents are in charge not the child? The parent give the instructions and the child obey's. And if they do not that get a few firm hard swats so they get the message to listen.

I think it should be on bare for two reasons. First it's a punishment so bare adds to the spring and humiliation. Second I think it's safer so you can what your doing like too hard or marking.
