How does an open relationship work ?

I haven't known anyone who claims (or demonstrates) they are in an open relationship. I know about threesomes, etc. but open relationships are clearly something different.

It doesn’t. It’s fundamentally flawed because the thing that excites people about the idea of it, becomes the cancer that kills the relationship.

It's when one of the two don't really care about the other and wants to have more options while still dragging the other person along so that they can have a backup after gaslighting them into thinking its a good thing.

@Teirdalin That sounds pretty harsh and demeaning. I've not had an opportunity to be in one. There are dating websites called 'adultmatchmaker' and 'redhotpie' and 'feeld' that seem to cater for people with fluid sexuality and open relationships.

@novaguy2u I view open relationships as ones where the commitment to one another is not resolute and both parties have chosen to permanently 'hedge their bets'.
