Anyone been there in person? How amazing was it?

Yes, I've been to Lake Berryessa, but I've never seen it when the water was spilling into the hole. It is neat-looking though.
I did live 30 miles south east of lake Berryessa in the 1960es ,never seen this,

You should go there soon.

Water levels on the man-made reservoir exceeded 440 feet on February 4th, evening, automatically triggering the Lake Berryessa’s famed “Glory Hole” spillway, there to keep the lake from flooding.

of the mid-lake pipe to keep the lake from flooding.

This is the 25th time it happened over the past 70 years.

This one is going to be for the records books. Another atmospheric is going to hit tomorrow, which means this will be going for a few more weeks.

Last time was 2019, before that in 2017 and before that 2005.

Only two other similarly passive spillways exist in California, one in Trinity Lake in Trinity County and one at Whiskeytown Lake in Shasta County, which also spilled over last week.

Never been there during an active spill.

I didn't believe that when I first saw it! But yes, it does exist. In the Wikipedia article they call it a 'spillway'.

Thank for posting the picture. I really can't see the video because of this site.
