The first recorded usage of the term “Blow Job” is tracked to a comic book printed in 1948. The name of the comic book is Tijuana Bible. It was a series of palm-sized pornographic comic books produced in the U.S. from 1920–1960. The edition printed in 1948 shows a male politician telling his colleague, “You give such a good blow job.” The authors were anonymous artists. The freelance cartoonist Doc Rankin is one of the possible authors of the comic. One of the declassified FBI memorandums from the early 1940s implies that one of the main artists was a woman. However, her name was redacted from the document.

The oldest verbal form originally appears among prostitutes in 1933. In their slang, they used the phrase “to blow someone off” to refer to giving oral sex. But the such context of language was only present in the circles of the oldest craft. Military pilots from the same time period considered the usage of their planes for blow jobs. It was their job to fly and when the plane would dash through the air the wind would blow strongly. It had no sexual connotation whatsoever. Yet it all started way earlier.

In the 17th century, “blow” meant to bring someone to orgasm. During that time the word “blowsy” was used to refer to women prone to debauchery and prostitution.

I'm imagining someone blowing a balloon until it pops. And I'm now very fearful.
Agree, not anything being blown. 🤣🤣🤣
I could never understood why it's called a blow job. It should be called suck job .
Another thing is the way some people give a BJ it should be called hand job. (80/90 % by hand and 10/20 % mouth). When I give a BJ it’s 100% mouth.

Has anyone ever been confused about what it actually means?

I agree, the term makes no sense.

@Bowenw Only if you have neither imagination nor the experience.

Not very adventurous are we? Many ways to skin a cat and if you haven't tried it don't knock it.

I disagree. I think the term 'blow job' is very appropriate for what's being enacted.

During a blow job, the act of 'sucking' doesn't actually cause stimulation of the penis nor of it's orgasmic release. It's actually it's own blowing out of internalized fluid that causes the stimulus effect for the guy to feel anything resulting from that release. Therefore, it cannot be called a 'suck job' because sucking of itself will not make that orgasmic release happen.

I think of the penis as a musical instrument like a trumpet which requires air to be forced through it from the mouth to make the instrument work. This is why the penis is often referred to as a 'skin flute' because it's held against the mouth like a flute.

Therefore, the reason it's appropriately called a 'blow', is because the penis opening is held against the lips like a musical instrument.

The reason it's called a 'job' is because prostitutes from the 1930's referred to selling an act of oral sex they performed on a guy as being 'a job'. Each guy they encountered in an evening was therefore another 'job' which yielded cash flow for the prostitute.

Hence the term 'blow job' became appropriately named.

The only time that an act of sucking hence suction action will cause involuntary surrender of internal fluid from a containment, is when stealing gas from a car, which is the siphoning of gasoline through a tube which is initiated by someone sucking on that tube until fluid flow results from inside a containment.

Ejaculation of a penis does not require nor does it even physically induce said siphoning action which you seem to otherwise think is what makes you ejaculate when you get a blow job.

That is not how a blowjob is achieved for any man, not even 'special' guys like you!
