My regular nurse practitioner was out sick when I got my hands on physical so a substitute traveler gave it to me instead. She was a lot more thorough than my regular practitioner and asked how long since I’d had a prostate exam. I told her the truth, so she did the hernia check and then got me bent over the table. She was a very good looking young black woman with a long thick finger. She was thorough and felt all around and it didn’t hurt, she used lots of KY Jelly. However I’m not so sure about that purple glove.

Yeah and yet all over the news these days medical centres are telling us prostate checks are done via blood test these days.

@GeniUs PSA blood tests are merely a screening test; an early warning system, so to speak. And not totally reliable. I ran high PSA results for years. Physical exams and three biopsies over a decade showed nothing. Conclusion was that I was one of those who just has a higher PSA count than the average "norm". Until I couldn't pee. By then the PSA was triple what it had been, everything else was positive as well, and I was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer.

@dancingtongue Sorry to hear of your cancer. Blood tests are still more accurate than the finger though, it makes me laugh the advertisement for this acts as if guys have been demanding the finger all these years! You get somebody who doesn't know what they're doing it bloody hurts, get somebody who is accomplished it's just a little uncomfortable.

@GeniUs I know, it surprised me that she did it. It may have to do with my age and how long it was since my last digital rectal exam (12 years or more).

Nothing unusual about any of it. While light blue is the more common color of latex gloves, purple is another frequent one.
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
@dancingtongue actually it is a nice color and I might be wrong but I think that glove is a latex free one. Anyway, this is a light sort of silly anal post I will probably remove.

@TheShanachie Come to think of it, I believe the purple is the distinction of being latex free. Which would mean she is latex-intolerant., unless she asked you if you were and were responding to that. Sorry, been out of the health care field for 30 years now.

@dancingtongue yes I think the facility I use has gone to just using those purple latex free ones. I had seen them before but this was the first time I’ve had one up my butt. It fits their hands tighter than the old latex did, and I guess that is what felt strange at first to me.
