Shopping at CVS

When I was in college I lived in a student cooperative. The women's houses, like all accredited female student housing in those days, had house mothers and lock-out rules. We were the first to introduce co-ed student housing in the nation. Nearly 40 years later I was serving as Alumni Rep on the Board of Directors, the meetings rotated between houses, and one meeting was at one of the only two remaining women-only houses. No house mother; no lock out. As we went to leave after the meeting, I spotted on the back of the entry door a big flyer from Good Vibrations, the adult toy store owned and run by a women's cooperative, announcing a sale on various toys and a further notation "discounts to fellow coopers". And I thought, "Yes, Virginia, you've come a long ways".

I had a job at a Adult store. Didn't last a week before I was sacked for giggling too much.

Reminds me of those movies when the young kid sheepishly makes his way to the cash register and slides the box of condoms across the counter to make his purchase. And of course there’s no price on the box so the cashier has to get on the loudspeaker and shout, “I NEED A PRICE CHECK ON THE SIZE SMALL TICKLE YOUR PICKLE CONDOMS!!”

Only now we have the young kid sliding the sex toy across the counter only to hear, “I NEED A PRICE CHECK ON THE PURPLE POUND YOUR MOUND VIBRATOR!!”
