He's an old time pragmatic politician imho. One who parks his ideology and party affiliation at the door once elected, and turns to finding common ground and compromise in order to govern for everyone. More credit to him that he has done this in the polarized, gridlock of a minefield the political landscape is these days while recovery from a stroke. Perhaps we need more of the extreme politicians on both ends of the spectrum to have strokes. (🤪 Just joking.)
I particularly liked his comments about Trump having the laser and too many Democrats being the cats chasing the little red dot as Trump moves it about playing with them. Such an apt metaphor. Focus on the most problematic issues; don't react to demagoguery with more demonization of your own. The learning you should take from the beat down you received is that there is a large swath of people out there who feel unheard, dis-respected. And when one feels that way, one tends to vote for whoever is saying "I hear you" , even if one has to hold their nose regarding the character and proposals of that candidate.
Tone down the ideology and demonization; start working together to solve the problems. That is the message I hear Fetterman saying. Has nothing to do with flipping parties or changing personal values.
