why dont usa candidates for preisdency, just do what other countries do, have boring debates?

why are usa debates so expolsive, all shouting and dissing, why cant thy be like european ones, boring, dreary, polite

they used to be before Trump showed up in 2016, he pretty much turned elections into ridiculous popularity contests with outrageous claims and insults

american here. we're really not like this irl. last nights debate was fun to watch, but the media coverage is what people remember and it's always over the top sensationalism
