The only sane people I ever met that voted for Trump only did so in 2016. The only people who stuck with him through his presidency are in the Cult.

@BohemianBabe I know a few that voted for him in 2020, but Jan 6th was the final straw.

@trollslayer I know he didn't go full fascist until he lost the election, but I can't believe any rational person could support him after the call to Ukraine. It was pretty clear at that point that he was at least willing to resort to authoritarian methods.

@BohemianBabe If someone bought into the disinformation about Biden, and took a "lesser of two evils" approach, I can see a rational person reluctantly voting for Trump in 2000. Basically rationalizing the Ukraine call as Trump being a F'ing idiot, but having concerns about Biden/Hunter's purported dealings with Ukraine.
In my mind, the Jan 6th stuff completely disqualifies Trump, and there is no reason I would even consider him, no matter who the Democrats were running. If he had conceded the election like an adult, I can rationalize someone voting for Trump again if the country was in real bad shape right now (good thing it is not).
Maybe I am being overly generous with people here and giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are capable of making rational decisions. Saying that 40-50% of the country is in a "cult" may be just too scary for me to admit.

@trollslayer It's not 40%, it's closer to 30%. Unfortunately, most Americans don't vote, and the electoral college helps Republicans.
The defense that Republicans used during Trump's impeachment was so cartoonishly awful, I can't imagine anyone fell for it, unless they have soup brain. The only people I think may still have supported Trump during this time, who weren't totally cooked, are people who have rational arguments for why America would be better if we had a dictator. Though still, I don't know how they could think Trump would be a good dictator considering how stupid and selfish he is.

@BohemianBabe I would argue that my friend whom I've referenced before is definitely sane, but just in denial of the damage Trump did.

@trollslayer Yet so many are!
But the majority aren’t brainwashed. Many simply ignore the evidence that’s right before their eyes because it’s too painful to process.

@LordShadowfire Either way, I feel sorry for him.
I know many of my fellow veterans feel betrayed by tRUMP (as they should). They’d never vote for him again, but most are so disillusioned now that they’ll probably never vote again.

@BohemianBabe Either you don’t live in a red state, or you’d likely say that most people I see on a daily basis are insane.
BohemianBabe · M
@Theyitis Living in a red state would drive anyone insane.
I understand there are regional, social, and economic reasons for why people fall for fascist propaganda. Those same conditions need to break people's brains first in order for them to end up in a cult that worships a mentally challenged serial criminal with weirdo hair.

@BohemianBabe Mentally challenged, Putin approved! Only hires the best people (40 of his “Best People” out of 44 in 2016 no longer endorse him and consider him a threat to Democracy)

@KunsanVeteran That's why I think it's funny that Republicans are trying to attack Harris by saying when she was running for president, she had a high turnover rate. Trump also had a high turnover rate, most people who worked for him now hate him, and he almost got his last veep murdered.
