Well, to start with, Nixon's 'plumbers' didn't have a valid search warrant, signed by a judge. The FBI did have a valid search warrant, signed by a judge.
Additionally, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has been requesting documents that Trump may have illegally removed from the White House and may be illegally storing at Mar-a-Lago. And NARA has asked Trump repeatedly for said documents. Do I need to explain how that differs from Watergate??

A general warrant lacks a sufficiently particularized description of the person or thing to be seized or the place to be searched.
