Have you ever phoned 911 by accident. And then tell the arriving cops it was a mistake

I've done it twice. I dialed directory assistance wrong but the cops still have to show up and check the whole house to make sure the bad guys didn't tell you to call them off and say you dialed wrong.

One of my kids dialed it as a toddler and made some goofy kid noises before hanging the phone up. They called back immediately, and I was like “yeah….the kid did it….everyone is fine.” She told me I’d be surprised how often that happens. This was in the 90’s when we still had regular phones with preprogrammed numbers. I was making breakfast and didn’t even see him grab the phone.

lol...yeah with my work phone. then the cops showed up at work. 911 phoned the main office before that and talked to a guy who answers the phones but didn't know who it could have been so the cops show up. i told them it was me by accident. then they wanted to see the id of the guy who 911 called and talked to. well, this guy was a nervous nelly by nature and he freaked out. told the cops it was me who phoned but the cops said we need the id of the person who talked to dispatch...he freaked out even more...lol i told him to calm down...cop was like wtf? the guy shows him his driver's license...cop returns it back to him and tells him he should renew it when he can 😂..but the way he freaked out was priceless
