No smoke here in Palm Beach, just the Sahara dust

AbbeyRhode · F
It was very bad in Jersey yesterday. It looked like fog, and smelled awful. My eyes were red and burning. It seems a bit better today, and the weekend is supposed to be better.
I feel bad for those who lost homes to the fires, and for all the people whose health is affected by the toxic smoke.

@AbbeyRhode Stay safe!

I'm also Great Lakes. It was awful yesterday and still bad but easing a bit today. I might as well light up a pack of Chesterfields

I am on the East Coast. It's been bad since yesterday. Hovering in the unhealthy range. Supposed to clear out tomorrow after some rain.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SumKindaMunster it is in the unhealthy range for many already! be smart, do not take chances with your health. this is unlike covid in which you were being asked to also protect others, this is your health that you can protect!
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 Thank you. I am taking it seriously.

Im clear across the US. There is no smoke here.
We are hoping the expected rain tomorrow (Sat) would help.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@CookieCrumbs The sky looks horrible again this morning. Let us hope the bad storm predicted will bring enough wind and rain to move the smoke out to sea, but it has to go somewhere, so it will just move to the east, with the prevailing winds, and likely affect others to our east.

It's in Maryland today and reaching Virginia

As a retired medical toxicologist, i cannot stress too strongly that breathing of this air is DANGEROUS! Our public health infrastructure has been so badly damaged that it is powerless, it seems, to get that information out.

Over the past 10 years the public has been told to not trust the scientists, so we are now paying the price.

Please, check on the quality of the air in your location. If there is any risk, do not go outside unless necessary, and then wear appropriate respiratory protection. I know many believe masks don't help, but they absolutely do.
It's clear here, for the past two hours m, but we've had a smokey week.
It was bad yesterday. Very hazy. Today it's much clearer: I'm in New Jersey.
@OverTheHill It's still here, but I heard they're planning on taking it down.
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
@MsSwan Was it by the NJParkway? I'm racking my brain, because I haven't been there in ages.
@OverTheHill Yes, it is. I live close to it. I can see the tower from my window.

Massachusetts, on the water in Plymouth Bay...the weather channel SAYS it's out there, but I can't see it or smell it. We are supposed to have thunderstorms today, so the weather system must have dragged some of it in.

Hazy, but i really can't smell it
Edit.....
Can smell it now.
