I’ve been gone a week so I might behind - why is the US attacking Venezuela when more drugs come through Mexico?

You missed a lot in a week – like Donald J Trump knows nothing about geography and the drug trade.
Trump has been saying that the US Navy has Venezuela completly surround. Venezuela is not an Island - just one end of Venezuela is on the ocean the other ends are neighboring Columbia and Guyana – so the drug dealers in Venezuela can avoid Trump’s navy and move their drugs through Columbia and Guyana – so Trump is not stopping anything. Cheers!

Oh it’s definitely about oil. They’re not even really denying it. Trump has mentioned a desire for control of Venezuela’s oil several times.

Could be the oil, but curious how it would work. Would Trump personally take over the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA)? Or, be given partial ownership?
