Do kids know how to fail?

For a boy, one of the ways he becomes a man, is to try things and fail. From what I have been reading
many boys don't want to try different things, because they are afraid to fail.

I have seen this with many people, adults included. My sister is one of them. She has never, ever, tried a sport
of any kind throughout her life. And I know why, it is because she is afraid she will fail, and someone will
laugh at her.

But to become a man, boys MUST fail at things, if you don't, you will never become a man, because it means
that you never try new things, and you never take risks.

Could you imagine through time, people never trying new things? never taking risks?

That's a good attitude and approach to life. But most versions of "being a man" that I see being pushed to boys consist of a zero sum calculation in which one lucky winner takes all the prizes and the rest are condemned as "losers". Which may be why some young people do not even bother trying.

@DogMan Well sometimes it's more important to take part in a sport - for health, sociability, fun - than it is to win. My daughter does gymnastics at a high level. She has success, but has tasted a load of disappointment to achieve what she has. At the same time she encourages other girls in her club who are not so skilled. And she tries other things she is not so good at. Mainly because she has the confidence to "fail" without fear of negative criticism.

@SunshineGirl Many people and kids are able to use the criticism and disappointment to overcome obstacles.

Success is 99% failure . (Einstein or Edison I believe ). Get used to it. Embrace it. 99% of the time it’s a no answer. Don’t let it get to you. Every no gets you closer to a yes .
Learned as much or more from a couple of failures /near failures as some of my successes.

Abraham Lincoln failed at several things until he succeeded as one of the most revered U.S. Presidents.
I once failed to reverse a caravan into a lay-by. Did I cry? Yes. Did I become a man? Also yes.

I know some of you manly men might say, "I try new things, but I don't fail" If that's the truth, you haven't
tried very many things. Either that or you are the single most talented person that ever existed, and
why would you be wasting your time on social media?

Everyone that ever accomplished anything in life has failed, many times.

Im like your sister in regards to surfing anyway 😅
DogMan · 61-69, M
@YoMomma Ive never had a chance to try surfing. I did boogie boarding when I was TDY in Hawaii on the
Bonzi Pipeline. It was fun as hell.
YoMomma · 41-45
@DogMan my brother goes he took me out once to try my board but i was afraid people would laugh at me falling off but i shouldn't have worried because i couldn't even get on 😅😅😅
Authirarian algorithm failure for that generalized repetitive fail, it's needing to admit failure, repeat isn't new neither is slightly modified copying,

Ask yourself how a baby learns to walk. Boy or girl, it doesn't matter who, or even what.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Thank you, I understand that. I think they are talking about older kids. Something about kids
being withdrawn and not going out and trying things that most of us have done.

@DogMan It's no different.

Aristotle once said something like:"give me a child up to the age of seven, and I will show you the man".
What you are describing when people never try new things or never take risks, are conservatives. Conservatives always want to isolate, withdraw and conserve everything, which is why the US has never grown in any substantial way while under the leadership of a conservative government.
@DogMan
If you are the opposite of Left (which is liberal), Woke (which is far-left) and Progressive (which is center-left), then you indeed are a CONSERVATIVE.

Perhaps you've never known who you really were all your life?

@swirlie Whats the craziest thing you've ever done swirlie?
@DogMan
I rode a motorized minibike off a 50 foot cliff when I was 10 years old and landed inverted in 3 feet of water along the sandy shoreline directly below the cliff.

Why do you ask?
