What is happening in Syria

The Syrian regime is losing ground so fast to the Armed Opposition and this time Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are all busy with their own issues and wars, Syria's Alassad might have to figure this out on his own and some say he might not make it this time! Even his own faction and inner circle are losing trust in him.

I'm honestly a bit confused about what exactly is going on and some resources say that ISIS are doing some things in the background and Syria is about to explode again.

Part of me is scared to see what'll happen if his regime collapses, what with the aftermath of the invasion of Iraq and all. He's a genocidal freak though, so y'know, would be sorta nice to see whatever show the rebels put on with his corpse.

My take is that Assad heavily relied on Russia, being essentially a vassal. Russia's curtain got extremely short due to the war in Ukraine, and ever more so since the incursion in Kursk, so now he's on his own. Erdogan saw the opportunity and funded his own vassal/proxy, resulting in the recent operation involving the takeover of Aleppo and now Hama
