The UN is a toothless tiger these days and such resolutions meaningless.

@ChipmunkErnie Regardless, it is the principle of the thing that counts. Biden and Harris deserved to lose on this issue alone.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SW-User No, they didn't. If this were an y nation other than Israel fighting for existence there would be very little outrage around the world.

SW-User
@ChipmunkErnie Israel does not need to fight for existence. In fact, it's Lebanon and Palestine fighting for existence because of Israel.

@SW-User I'd suggest you read history, but I doubt it would help.

@ChipmunkErnie Each time Israel has supposedly been threatened, except for the 1973 Yom Kippur War, it has emerged stronger and has annexed more and more territory. Hamas is a terrorist group and its actions were inexcusable, but if Israel had adhered to the territory it had been allocated at its inception, none of this would have happened. Fact.

@SW-User Yup, Israel fights well when attacked -- most people/nations threatened with multiple attackers dedicated to eradicating them will fight with total desperation and commitment. And expansion after a war is not unique to Israel. Note the difference in emotional response to Russia's expansionism in recent years.

SW-User
@ChipmunkErnie Russia has not fought with total desperation and commitment since World War 2. Putin started this war with Ukraine because his feelings were hurt, not because of some non-existent threat posed by NATO. And neither, for that matter, has Israel fought with total desperation and commitment, particularly now. Israel has one of the best militaries in the world and could easily go in and rescue the remaining hostages. But Netanyahu chooses not to because he is using them as pawns to remain in power, and Ben-Gvir is using them to justify the extermination of the Palestinians as a people. Netanyahu is powerless against the genocide because he knows if it stops, Ben-Gvir will collapse his government. Also, in case you have forgotten, almost all of Israel's neighbours have either made peace or are well on their way to doing so.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Gee, I guess it's called politics? And how the hell could they rescue the hostages -- if they get close the hostages will be executed, as they have been in the past.

SW-User
@ChipmunkErnie Well I'm glad you're so blase about the deaths of more than 50,000 innocent men women and children. Shows your true colours.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SW-User Not blase in the least, but the reality of war tends to be horrible. And there will be no peace in the Middle East as long as the Arab nations/factions promote the concept of destroying Israel. Israel is no angel in its actions, but consider what the US would have done if some terrorist group had invaded us and killed, raped, and kidnapped a few thousand of our citizens. Hell, look at what we did to Iraq with no reason. War is horrible, always has been and always will be.
