Does Iran matter?

Israel says Iran wants to destroy it. This is being used as justification for military action and possible war, which could have devastating consequences. Iran lacks the capability to destroy Israel, so why doesn't Israel ignore Iran and leave it alone?

A threat is a threat , Iran has nuclear capabilities

@Jake966 But do they have nuclear weapons?

The fact is, nobody can stop any nation from getting nukes if they really want them.
The important thing is making sure they are not used. The nation that fires the first shot (Russia using low grade nukes in Ukraine, for example) may bring the end of life on earth to an end.
Sadly there are religious fanatics here in the USA, rooting for it.

@JSul3 I believe the “fanatics” as you put it are not religious

@JSul3 “Sadly there are religious fanatics here in the USA, rooting for it.”

Religious fanatics are not the problem. It is people, some of them our leaders, who are indifferent to the possible use of nuclear weapons. They include those who advocate intervention in Ukraine, and those who support Israel attacking Iran. Do they care if it leads to nuclear exchange?
