If Russia were to attack a NATO nation, yes we as a part of that agreement are obligated to assist that nation as it is considered an attack on all NATO countries.
@soar2newhighs and that's the narrative. But in the almost 75 years since NATO was established, Russia hasn't progressed westward, but NATO has progressed eastward. CIA director, Bill Burns, has been warning about NATO provoking a Russian response since 1995.
@BizSuitStacy To have advanced eastward toward Russia is one thing albeit a threat considered by the Kremlin; as long as there is no aggression by NATO it is most likely going to be a stand off for a long time. The U.S. and the other NATO countries are well aware of Russia’s military capabilities particularly their nuclear arsenal. That’s a gamble NATO might not want to chance. As for Ukraine I don’t see a victory for Zelensky. They’d be wise to go to peace
