What do you think about the riots/protests in the US?

Do laws matter? What is new about immigration that now makes it ok to do so illegally?

What I don't understand is, why are the people flying flags of the horrible countries they had to leave?
and burning the flags of the country they want to live in?

@DogMan they left not because they disliked their countries, but because they could not support their families there.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 OK, but we were told they were seeking asylum. You can't seek asylum just because you need to
make more money, I don't think. I really don't blame people for wanting a better life, but there are rules and laws
that need to be followed to do it right.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DogMan Yes, some were seeking asylum, but not from their governments, at least probably not those protesting, they were threatened by gangs, etc. Anyway, why would one or two people raising a flag allow you to generalize about others?

@DogMan Oh! Ask ME Ask Me! 👋 Because the country they wanted to live in is becoming more and more like the horrible countries they wanted to leave...😷
DogMan · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Then they should be fine with taking their flags and going back. 🤔
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@DogMan Not yet. Besides, give it a few years and the rest of you will be looking to leave.. The real fun hasnt started yet..This is only the pre game show..😷

The G7 got started in Canada today and PM Mark Carney has already got Trump cornered like a trapped weasel. CNN isn't covering ANY of it nor is FoxNews, but Canada's TV networks are showing as much as they can to their Canadian viewing audiences and it's starting to look awkward for Donald's fragile male ego. I can hardly wait to see what tomorrow's fireside chat brings! 🍿

Oh and Anthony said to say "Oi"!

@swirlie I saw the suck up job he did to the Russian representative. A combination of self congratulation and toadying 101. Clearly he hasnt made any payments on those $Billions he owes Putins Russian banks.. I was put in mind of this..

@whowasthatmaskedman Why? do you think we are going to have war in the U.S.?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@DogMan I sincerely hope not.. But the economic war with China is already lost and You are all gathered in that little Chapel in Texas. And we know how that ended. Pretty soon the $US will be dethrowned as the reserve currency (something I predicted as far back as EP days) and then the jig is up. The bottom will fall out of the value of the $US and everything imported into the US will cost a lot more, even without Tariffs..And the government will be left with the option of official devaluation, or through the roof interest rates.. Only THEN will the American people get the hard triuth that thier standard of living is going to fall bigly.. And nations will want much larger interest on the money America owes them or they wont ship to you without Cash up front and not in $US.. America will be a failed state.. And not a shot needs to be fired..😷
DogMan · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Well I respect your opinion, but I don't believe that will happen. Are you of the opinion that the standard
of living in the U.S. is different from Australia, Europe, Etc...? I know there are many rich people in the U.S. but it is all
relative. To many people I am rich, and I feel rich. I am very fortunate and grateful for the life this country has allowed me.
But I know what real wealth is. I'm comfortable, out of debt, and have plenty to live off for the rest of my life. I'm
very diverse in what I have also.

Now if we compare the U.S. to places like UAE I would say that their standard of living is much higher, and it's all due to oil.

We in the U.S. are very diverse in the business arena, and I do not think we have anything to worry about. I know having
Trump in office again brings doom and gloom to many, and I think most of them WANT something bad to happen to
the U.S. But as soon as another lefty takes over it will be rainbows and unicorns again, and the right will be saying
they will ruin the world.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@DogMan Respect for each others opinions (even if we dont agree) is all I ask. The UAE is not a great comparison model to either of our countries for any number of reasons, including oil..But also it has two almost entirely seperate economies. One of wealth and patronage based on the oil, family connections and patronage..The other based on foreign workers, who do pretty much everything. You wont find an Arab working in a store, a hotel, or any service industry. You wont find one in the medical or educational field,,Everyone is a foreign worker. From the cheap construction laborers on the skyscrapers and engineers on oil fields, to the police force..The only place you will find Arabs is the public sector..
And there, as a foreign worker, if you lose your job, you have 30 days to find another, or you are deported . And the government knows where you live and keeps track of you.. All this makes it a poor model..
Equally but for different reasons it is difficult to compare America with Australia. Part of the function of the standard of living here is Universal health cover. And subsidized university education that mean we dont have medical bankruptcy and crushing student debt.. And while having roughly thr same geographic mass as continental America, we only have 26 million people and much of the land is empty and non productive. There are a hundred other factors, some benefit one side, some the other. But stepping back from all of that, America carries a massive overseas debt, which while the $US was king of the hill in international trade was sustainable..But that rug is being pulled out from under America and the sell off of $US has already begun. and the terms of trade are starting to slip. This has nothing to do with left or right. This is an economy living beyond its means. That made the whole thing unstable.. Enter trump. I dont thi8nk I need tell you the damage he has dont to Americas image as a trustworthy trade partner. And China was ready this time, while other countries were willing to listen and America is losing its place in world trade and will never get it back. The best historical example I have is Spain. Their former empire abutted Americas. Where are they now???😷

China is you best bet; and yet, you choose to support the America. Why?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sree251 The partnership with America goes back to WW2, where America used Australia (and NZ) at supply and jumping off points for the Pacific campaign and there is little doubt that without America, Australia would have been subject to invasion. Having said that. McArthurs plan was to allow the Japanese to take the top half of Australia. . But some raw Australian recruits stopped them half way across New Guinea and messed up his plans. Post war, Australia underwent a sort of corporate invasion from America, not unlike the more extensive Marshall plan projects and American influence grew as British influence wained.. But, like the rest of the world, America has been using its influence for its own benefit more and more. And Frankly, its wearing a bit thin when deals that tilt the field to America arent enough. Trump has burned your goodwill here..And China is a far bigger trading partner now...😷

Thank you for your point of view. Looking through your eyes, I can see your predicament. China may be a better bet for survival, but it's nothing like being with your own kind for better or for worse. I have no excuse for our lousy US foreign policy. Americans can't fill the shoes of the British when Britannia ruled the waves. The Chinese have a saying: A family's fortune will not last three generations. As it turned out, America is the prodigal son.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@sree251 Sounds like you are ready to be ruled by the Chi Comms. Good luck.

I said that it is better to be your own kind, no matter what. I would rather muddle along in the west than move to China. Trump is messing up big time. I voted for him because he made promises I like. Trump is coming apart now. The job is too hard for him. It's hard for me to watch him now. He is a New York shyster in a mixed-martial arts cage dealing with fighters from hell.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sree251 Yes. I have heard that one about a fortune and three generations and I suspect the same issues that run through that saying apply in America. The industry of ther people has run its course and the rot has set in..😷
