Both Trump and Hegseth confirm Ukraine accession to NATO unlikely. Major loss for NATO.

Ukraine would become a throbbing, constant headache for NATO. Billions in wasted resources and personnel would have to be poured into that nation.

What is MORE important right now is PEACE...and that is Putin's one requirement upon which he won't budge.
You're not Hungary? I'm not Poland. (Overheard at a NATO summit). 🤣

How is it a major loss for NATO? A mutual defence pact isn’t something you allow someone to join when they are already at war.

NATO basically said the same thing already, "We will fast track Ukraine's NATO application as soon as the war is over"? Obvious way to say no without saying no

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays These politicians make me sick. Always ready to open the flood gates of pain and suffering as long as it's not happening to them
@plungesponge Putin should put on a uniform and go to Ukraine to fight for mother Russia.

It's a major loss for Ukraine, not for NATO. NATO would be subsidizing them for years, not to mention the massive amount of corruption apparent in the Ukrainian government.

@ImNotHungry How so?
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@SumKindaMunster NATO tasked itself with the security of Ukraine, now not only is Ukraine accession off the table but so too NATO peacekeeping troops including US boots. These are serious concession all before negotiations have begun. This was after all NATOs little project.

@ImNotHungry Ok I see your point...its reputational, NATO put a lot on the line for Ukraine and now they are backing off.
Thanks for best comment
