I don't doubt that the climate is changing. I don't doubt that we are causing some of it because there's evidence that man caused some of the changes that happened centuries ago. I don't doubt that (in some places) the oceans are rising but at the same time in some places they are staying the same and in others possibly even falling. (I suspect it would be more accurate to say the land itself is rising or sinking.) This is nothing new.
Where I call bullshit is when the "scientist" start claiming that unless we can eliminate xxxx tons of green house gas in the next xx years then the temps will rise x/10's of a degree by the end of the century and that will cause the oceans to rise so many inches. If you think about it, the people crying "climate change" are the same ones that were crying "global warming" just a few years ago. They just had to change the tune a bit when they realized "global warming" didn't accurately explain what was happening. So now we're supposed to believe they got it right this time?
@TexChik And that's the thing, they can't predict volcanos, or the amount of methane trapped in some frozen lake somewhere that's being released or a million other things that make the emissions from cars, gas stoves, and cow farts irrelevant.
One of my favorite climate change articles below. Climatards love referencing the Vostok Ice Cores because they suggest that the concentration of CO2 captured in the ice is lower than the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere today. Of course, that's not an apples to apples comparison.
The ice core samples show something far more important that climatards willfully ignore regarding the relationship of CO2 changes with respect to temperature changes. The core samples represent 400,000 years of temperature and CO2 data showing that changes in CO2 consistently [i][b]lags[/b][/i] changes in temperature. Or to put it more bluntly, global warming and cooling causes the change in CO2 in the atmosphere. And almost without exception.
the peak of the last ice age was about 25,000 years ago. Glaciers and polar ice caps have been gradually melting/receding ever since.
Planet earth does not "normally" have polar ice caps. For most of earth's history creatures like dinosaurs roamed everywhere from the equator to the most northern latitudes.
the ice caps will eventually melt completely. the kind of cars we drive don't matter. And then another ice age will begin.
It's a fantasy to assume that the current climate is the "normal" one, and can be perpetualy preserved if we just try hard enough.
