I give my money to wealthy people and then there is a trickle down effect - that not only benefits me but also my community. Just goofing around. Inflation is costing me more ever month and soon I will have to be dipping into my savings to eat well. Cheers!

@Nanoose Sadly trickle down is a fiction perpetrated by Reaganomics and never worked for any but the rich..Spend what you need to locally, so it circulates as many times as possible..😷

Have you ever estimated how much, say, $100 you earn is taxed as it gets circulated? First you have to pay income tax. If you buy something with the remainder, there is sales tax. Part of what the price you pay is the merchant's profit, which is taxed again. Then he has to pay the help's salaries, which are taxed again, and the rent, the landlord's profit of which is taxed again, and the wholesaler's profit on the amount that the merchant paid for the item you bought, and the manufacturer's profit, and the raw materials provider's profit, and the salaries of all those involved, are taxed again. I think in some countries, it amounts to about 60%, if we also include property taxes.

That’s a lot of taxation. @Thinkerbell

@Thinkerbell OK. We dont have property taxes on the primary residence. since our sales tax is national (and distributed to the states under a formula not related to population) we
could say the more populated states subsidize the less populated. So we share that. Our tax comes out just a smidge less than yours, but there are two stand out differences. First, we have a total population of 25 million taking up a land mass similar to the main section of the US, with all the infrastructure that entails in roads, utilities, communications and services like law enforcement.. But what we dont have is a defence budget larger than that of the next 9 highest spending nations..We simply dont project our might globally (unless the US asks us to help make the whole thing look legit by being international..) So we can spend money on health care, and subsidizing Tertiery education for our citizens.😷
