Still think the President doesn't affect gas prices???

Poll - Total Votes: 12
This makes sense why gas prices started to rise on inauguration day
I don't care. It's still not his fault

Adopting new EPA oil and gas rules

In November 2021, the Environmental Protection Agency announced new regulations governing methane emissions from oil and gas production, transmission, storage, and distribution that would cost more than $1 billion a year.

Last spring, Biden signed a resolution that overturned Trump administration reforms to EPA oil and gas rules. This resolution will worsen energy poverty, reestablish burdensome regulations, and have a disproportionate impact on small businesses.

One of Biden’s first actions after taking office was to halt new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters, the Biden administration has delayed decisions on these leases — a move that results in higher energy costs for the most vulnerable consumers.

Americans are more than willing to pay thousands of dollars for health care, but draw the line at paying a buck more for gasoline. 🙄
A lot of Americans couldn't and still can't afford health care. @independentone
@Spoiledbrat but they sure fight against single pay government provided health care.
I did too at first. It's a big change being forced to pay for it. And many people can't get Obamacare. @independentone

@Spoiledbrat I mean if you're too poor to pay for healthcare, you're probably not gonna be paying anywhere near your actual healthcare costs in taxes.

@independentone What kind of system would you like to see, medicare expansion? Government subsidies and let individuals choose their own? How do we pay for it once it is in place?
@Roadsterrider Probably single payer medicare expansion. Pay for it by taking 5-7% of peoples income to fund it.

@independentone 5 to 7%, I am sure you mean another 5 to 7%. There are about 64 million people on Medicare, Medicare costs the US government $776 billion, to cover 330 million people under Medicare the total cost would be roughly 5 times $776 billion. That comes out to be $3.9 trillion. The total revenue of the government in 2020 was $3.4 trillion, so to cover everyone with Medicare, it would take every cent going into the government coffers and we would still have to come up with another $500 billion to cover the cost of the program. That also leaves nothing for infrastructure, nothing for defense, nothing for welfare programs, unless taxes on working people were doubled at least. Talk to anyone in the medical professions, ask why doctors don't like taking Medicare patients. Medicare isn't very good insurance, if you don't also get a part B plan you are screwed if any major health issues come up. To increase taxes in this country would drive inflation through the roof. Right now, Medicare is 3%, half paid by the employee and half paid by the employer. Everyone who works pays this tax, 3% wouldn't cut it if 250 million people were added to the rolls.
@Roadsterrider The rest of the civilized world seems to make it work for them though. The US has the most expensive health care in the world, and one of the worst in terms of care in the world.
