Marx was right except for the part where the workers vote for hyper-capitalists and fascists, and identify more by race than class. I'm sure that will change soon, perhaps before Jesus returns.

I read a lot of Nietzsche in college, and he's a fun goof.

Both are modernists, and interesting in terms of intellectual history, but I don't see them as relevant now.
@Bumbles Actually even early Marxists, Marx and Engles included were very much aware that bourgeois "democracy" would not yield any useful results.

The idea that you could "change the system from within" is revisionist and came into being mostly after they died and the powers that be did their best to discredit the revolutionary aspects of Marxism.

I have not read alot of Nietzsche, but I have read some of his works. Some of it is thought provoking but I find it more navel pondering than practical as opposed to Marx which has much more practical implications.

I mean the text where everyone gets the "God is dead" quote from is thought provoking. The idea that whether god exists or not is irrelevant because people now don't believe in anything they can't quantify is interesting but doesn't have much practical use.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Nietzsche's criticism of Christianity and Socrates is thought provoking as well, but I really place him as a thinker considering the "crisis" of modernity.

@Bumbles anti racists and feminists have been influenced by marx

@Guitarman123 For sure.
@Guitarman123 Early on that is absolutely true. Unfortunately in the 70s in particular radical feminism, various anti racism groups and others were influenced by groups like the CIA and influenced to move away from Marxism and similar left wing thought and towards narrowing their focus to a single cause which is how we get the modern atomisation of radical politics where everyone runs their own show with their own pet cause and also making it so much easier for groups like intelligence agencies to manage and influence such movements and make sure no unified front ever happens. Chris Hedges brought it up when he mentioned how Gloria Steinem got mixed up with the CIA. It also makes her later endorsement of Sheryl Steinberg as the future of feminism seem less insane with that context.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow and of course narrowing the focus doesn't help people in the wider context. Im a fan of the feminism for the 99 per cent organisation because they seek to express solidarity and support for everyone

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Let us hope Sheryl Sandburg is relegated to the dustbin of history and the sale bin of bookstores.
@Guitarman123 Talking solidarity is one thing. But everyone seems to stay in their own echo chambers and bubbles which is very convenient for opposition.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow absolutely, i couldn't agree more. It's an issue on the left that greatly irritates me. Ash sarkar has wrote about it in her book.
@Bumbles Got the name wrong. It is Sheryl Sandberg. But yes, I agree. She was kind of the start of the capitalist girl boss nonsense.
@Guitarman123 I admire Ash Sarkar. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and is articulate and doesn't suffer fools as her famous response to Piers Morgan demonstrated. 😂

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow likewise. Was quite happy when she brought up the issues of the left in her book. Too many socialists seem to think its either about being for the working class or for minorities without realising it can be both. Tbf i thought that at first until i heard about the working class history website

Where the sigma did you get that?
Bumbles · 56-60, M
@BohoBabe MAGA “working” class voters.
