Great place to go with the added benefit of a heritage railway station within walking distance...if you're fit.

Lincoln cathedral - which for a time was the tallest building in the world, and certainly the best in the U.K. And Lincoln castle, Norman built on top of what was previously a Roman town.

Quite a few American Revolutionary War sites withing an hour's drive.

Probably the closest one to me would be St Augustine. That is supposed to be the oldest town in America. We definitely visit there. It's a fun place to go.
