A lot of people still haven’t got the memo on Columbus Day
Sure, Columbus was once a unanimously celebrated figure, but that was looking at him through rose-tinted glasses. We know better now — his actual story and the multiple accounts of him committing atrocious acts so inhumane, even his contemporaries thought he was nothing short of an unhinged monster, from his own crew to the Italian monarchy themselves. But don’t take my word for it, do your own research and you’ll see that Columbus is not a man worth celebrating, period.
Unless, of course, you do think such a sick, reprehensible individual should be celebrated for whatever reason! I know there will be plenty who will continue celebrating him anyway. But that’s okay, because it’s always good to know where people stand. And, once they’re gone, their world will go with them until they’re last generation upholding this farce while the rest of the world progresses and ultimately leaves Columbus Day in the past, where it belongs.
