What's the earliest historical event in your memory?

The assassination of President Lincoln. I remember the night of the show that Lincoln and his wife attended at Ford's Theater, Our American Cousin, was broadcast on TV. I remember the gunshots then everybody in the audience went crazy. It was a real panic in the theater. Never saw anything like that on TV before. I never forgot that. Then I switched to CNN and Wolfe Blister to get the whole behind-the-scenes story. I videotaped the whole thing. Wonder what happened to that tape? 🇺🇸
