Medieval peasants only worked around 150 days a year and the feudal lords were legally liable for the quality of their housing and medical care.

But sure we’re all free and better off now…

Many saints days or holidays (holy days) were left free for worship and relaxation. And wars excluding religious strife and uprisings only killed off the aristocracy and those in their pay. The rest of the country would go about its business.

And when you’re an English peasant and all the aristocracy getting their heads whacked in are Norman French, who cares?

There’s a recorded battle between the English and the Scots where a levy of commoners from both armies were ordered to charge each other, much to the anger of the lords of both sides, they met in the middle, drank ale and generally talked amongst themselves for a few hours.
Let's keep our modern working conditions (with increased pay) and have their working schedule- I want it all! 🤭

Americans won't engage in politics. They're the work force and they don't own a country. Duh. So NATO is unstoppable - Americans are a fantasy workforce that will do anything and build WMDs that can kill us all with no requirements of the ownership.

@Roundandroundwego Here's the real problem
America is a violent country parading as a democracy and in the end
WE DO WHAT WE ARE TOLD

Free people are crushed under the wheel
Happened to me.. all I had was my freedom and I got crushed because of it

And we all act like politics is for those serious people over the pond
or we're above it all when the truth is its almost impossibly hard to negotiate through life (yes we have "religion" but later 4 that)

and without smart politics and a real grasp of things and not just reactionism

we are already back in the feudal age, hopeless and beaten
But let’s not confuse those good aspects of their life. For all the other ones, a feudal lord could regularly murder any surf he wanted to for any reason he could make up. Also, the surf and peasant population. Had to endure something called the right of the Lord. It meant that at any wedding, the Lord could come to the wedding and demand the first night with the newlywed bride. And peasants in different countries were treated very differently. Let’s not forget that the Russian empire was still largely futile even to the beginning of the 20th century

@SatyrService Actually he couldn’t. That’s games of thrones. I reality he would face either a hanging or have to pay Weregeld to the victims family.

we dont want to live like that again
It was still worse

No doctors
abuse of women so bad you don't want to know
too much suffering in childhood and esp infancy
no way to learn much
not much to work for re the future, the human spirit crushed prematurely

YOU DONT WANT THAT AGAIN

And all kings lords andAnd all kings lords and People in authority we're obligated to obey the Catholic Church
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@dale74 For the first 6 centuries they were. The papacy had the power to bring from kings. Until the mid 1500s
Human1000 · M
You’re the one person who didn’t live a past life as a monarch.
Renaci · 36-40
Ahhh yes good old plagues and witch burnings and viking raids. Or church raids for heretics. Ignorance, superstitions, anti-intellectualism, disease and fear. And 40 percent of the world population wants us all back under a totalitarian theocracy so they can rule and rape and pillage with God's power.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@Renaci Plagues - we’ve just had one. We have Russians now instead of Vikings.

And as for ignorance and superstition, look up evangelical America.

@Renaci they want a lousy end for someone who didn't have a lousy beginning, u will be scoured out...

doomsayers and women haters were abused children once and many still are, despite the exp date on their birth certificate
Incidentally, the average lifespan in the Middle Ages was 31 to 33 years as well
