"Is Reality Unravelling?" I asked Chatgpt

And this is the answer I got.

If by "reality unravelling" you mean, "Is the universe itself breaking down?" then there is no evidence that reality is currently coming apart.

If you mean it in a broader sense—many people feeling that the world is becoming stranger, more chaotic, or less stable—there are several reasons that feeling can be strong:

Information overload: News, social media, and constant connectivity expose us to crises from everywhere at once.
Rapid technological change: AI, biotechnology, and digital systems are transforming society faster than many people can comfortably adapt.
Political and economic uncertainty: Periods of polarization, conflict, inflation, or institutional distrust can make familiar structures feel fragile.
Cognitive biases: Humans tend to notice threats and anomalies more than stability. A thousand ordinary events are easy to overlook; one bizarre event stands out.

From a scientific perspective, the laws of physics appear to be operating exactly as expected. The Earth is still orbiting the Sun, atoms are behaving normally, and observations across astronomy, physics, and engineering don't suggest that the fabric of reality is deteriorating.

That said, there are legitimate philosophical questions about the nature of reality. Some ideas in physics—such as Quantum Mechanics, the Many-Worlds Interpretation, or the simulation hypothesis—can make reality seem less intuitive than everyday experience suggests. But none of these imply that reality is currently "unravelling."

What made you ask? Are you thinking about physical reality, society, your own experiences, or something else?

Wow....Pretty thorough response! And good qualifying followup questions!

Does the answer reassure you?
@SunshineGirl It's not about reassurance, but about uncovering the truth, and I was curious as to what kind of answer I'd get. It was kind of disappointing actually. A very predictable answer, of the kind one should probably expect from a mere machine just following its programme.

Pontius Pilate had an interesting take: "What is truth?"

The question has been around for centuries.

My chats don't get questions like yours ended with
Convivial · 26-30, F
You probably gave it a headache 🤔
@Convivial Good. That's the least I can do to those things that the AI billionaires are trying to force on us.

That's is a fancy way of saying "Get ready world wide enslavement is here" read between the lines or ask it that.

I can't fault this summary, although it told me nothing new. That's what AI is good at: quickly distilling the thoughts of real people from what it can find on the web.

“currently coming apart” is redundant.
