It's California well, why be surprised. Oh, with all the weirdos here, it's very possible he's one that has been here every day.

After he played (and lost to) Deep Blue, Gary Kasparov did a game called "Kasparov vs. the World", where people would write in and vote on which move to make next, and whichever move got the most votes is what would be done.

I didn't follow the game or anything, but I was loosely aware it was going on. Apparently, at some point, the voter base realized they couldn't win, and voted to concede- but in chess, it's not called "conceding". So one day, I went down to breakfast, opened up the newspaper to the comics section (I have my priorities straight, thank you), and saw, as the main headline of the section, presented with absolutely no context, "The World Resigns". That is NOT a headline to eat breakfast to. It was easily the most "well, now what?" moment of my life.
