Global Homicide Rate

Yes, if WWIII were to break out, NK May lob a few. China would not. The US and NATO would not. And Russia most certainly would not, or if it did would be a limited strike.

Global nuclear war is what I meant to say was very unlikely.

@Elessar Even if we double the number of reported deaths from wars and terrorism (according to @fakable's chart) we still don't reach the levels of death from homicide. 😔

@sarabee1995 perhaps I'm just a bit too cynical but I don't expect much better from humanity. Fighting, killing, etc that's kinda what we do. And it's rough out there still for most people, so even if people are mostly trying to mind their own business, envy and greed can really make people do messed up stuff.

There's 7 billion of us but I bet a number of those homicides are either related or done by the same people or groups. Especially if you look at it from a a yearly perspective that's like half a million people. That's not even to consider how many of that group is less than 5 y/o.

@UndeadSona When you say "by the same people or groups" keep in mind that terrorism is a distinct category separate from this 1,000 per day. Or, I suppose you might mean drug gangs in inner cities? Yes for sure they would be big in the stats. I think my shock at seeing the number was simply that homicide was greater than all wars combined. Just struck me.

@sarabee1995 yeah I definitely meant gangs, i assumed terrorism was either tied to warfare or a another stat completely.

@Longpatrol The data I was looking at yesterday did not break down the homicides by type. Sorry.

@jshm2 Sorry ... what did I "twist"?? Typically twisting statistics happens when you draw conclusions from the numbers that are not supported.

I'm simply stating one simple fact here. We kill each other at an alarming rate. Take from that whatever you want.
