Hes 75 and lived an extremely charmed life.
Not unusual in the slightest to reach that age and not have cancer or Alzheimers or Arthritis to the point of being immobilised etc.

What's interesting is why this is being made public ?

Is he considering abdicating ?
Is Camilla finding the whole Regent thing hard to cope with ?
Are there more details about his brother about to be revealed that make Charles' position as King difficult ?

There's no story unless somebody tries to create one. Either through facts known or lies implied.

@Picklebobble2
What's interesting is why this is being made public ?
That he was in the hospital for prostate issues already was known. That he was going to be absent from public view after discharge while he undergoes treatment will become obvious. If they didn't opt for transparency, the rumor mill would go wild with conspiracy theories. And criticism for not being transparent, as was the case with U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin.

@dancingtongue World of difference between a career politician and a man who's sole role in life was to take responsibility for the monarchy on his mother's death.

@Picklebobble2 Is that all the monarchy is about? No responsibilities for advising government, running the "family business", influencing public opinion, philanthropic works? And BTW, Austin is not a career politician in the usual sense of the term. He was career military leader, a four-star general, and he made sure his second-in-command was informed she was in charge. Both got a lesson in politics outside the military arena.

@dancingtongue Government and Monarchy are two separate entities.
Monarchy is dependent on funding from the Civil Purse.
Money from the country. Some self-earned via branding and approval crests added to small independent businesses that supply almost exclusively to a select few customers (because of the high price of what they produce and sell. Venison; jewellery; wine; etc.)
The distribution and management of The Civil Purse is made up of a committee of Lords and laymen some selected by government most selected by Lords holding particular peerages passed down through the generations.

Much of the Royal families time is spent with rulers of other nations in an effort to foster trade agreements and developing understanding and advancement in society for those exclusively in this group.

And yes. They often have to shake hands with a lot of international thieves; murderers and pirates in doing so.

@Picklebobble2 Thanks for the clarification. Regardless, not being transparent could have a negative impact on those relationships I suspect.

@Picklebobble2 I know 10 - 15 people in that age range. None of them have cancer or Alzheimers or Arthritis to the point of being immobilised etc.

Why isn't it news by itself? Or are we so idiotic as a society we want anything to be scandal based?
