Anti-Woke Bank, GloriFi, Shutting Down

The Texas startup that sought to build a conservative banking alternative is shutting down.

GloriFi has laid off most of its employees and told them that it is closing up shop, according to people familiar with the matter and emails to employees reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The company’s fate became clear on Friday, when funding that it hoped would carry it through the first quarter fell through, Cathy Landtroop, the company’s chief marketing and communications officer, said in an email to employees.

Were they concerned that financial institutions are Marxist stalwarts, so they needed conservative alternatives, or was it an attempt to further fleece the MAGAs, because donations to Trump have yet to bankrupt them?

Where's Elon?

😜

@Burnley123 He's busy trying to "better understand the Twitter tech stack". You know, looking into what he bought, after he bought it, and shed 65% of the company's staff 🤣

@Burnley123 i wonder if he realizes that he publicly admitted, when he made that statement, how incompetent he sounded.

@Northwest Doing it AFTER you have bought the company and AFTER you fired most of your employees seems a bit, erm... 'unorthodox'.

@Burnley123 SOP when you're a SOB.

You joke about it but that's probably what's happening right now lmao

It's only a matter of time before they'll push some update, f*ck up, the entire dashboard goes down, recovery goes down too, only way to restore everything is to physically access the datacenter and at that point they figure out they fired the guy who had the keys 😬

@Burnley123 it's funny when even Trump doesn't want to be back on Twitter (sure, he has Truth Social, where is defaulting on his hosting bills, but do you think maybe he also sees how embarrassing the situation at Twitter is now as well?!)
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SW-User I think Trump is canny enough to see that Twitter is in danger of collapsing and doesn't want to be associated with it for that reason.

IF Musk had not made so many basic business management mistakes, this could have worked out very well for the right.

IF...

Trump is canny enough
🥴
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Elessar In a sense he is. Why is that controversial?
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Burnley123 It's not that it's controversial, it's just that I'm not sure the man is even capable of such a basic analysis, unless at most if he's advised.

Never underestimate your opponent, I know, but it's Trump we're speaking of. This wouldn't be the first (nor probably the last) sinking ship he'd sail.
