Mark David Chapman denied parole for the 12th time for killing John Lennon

I'm guessing if they let him out there would be riots lol

Why is this guy and Charles Manson and others like this still breathing?
graphite · 61-69, M
@JohnOinger Chapman was a nut who wanted fame. Unfortunately, Lennon's residential address was public knowledge and right smack in midtown Manhattan. All any lunatic had to do was wait outside long enough and eventually John would come out. And that's what happened.
Lilymoon · F
@graphite yeah that was his downfall
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@graphite Good to know. Why he died of natural causes is an abomination.

Chapman quit his job as a prison guard just before the murder. Now he's the prisoner.

He also planned on killing Paul McCartney.

He wants everyone to know that he didn't do it for fame. He wanted to be an instrument of God. That's why he refused an insanity plea.

@Lilymoon

And now apparently he's full of remorse.

Apparently his use of remorse-laden language calling his own actions "despicable" during his hearing in 2020, and said he would have "no complaint whatsoever" if they chose to leave him in prison for the rest of his life,* he has rightfully not fooled the parole board. They know from experience when someone's lying, being deceptive or is hiding something. If his wish is to ever be released in his lifetime, he'll have to stop fooling himself first. He's not remorseful, and after all these decades I don't believe he will ever be. Let him finish his last days incarcerated where he belongs, lest he be released and become a repeat offender.

His next parole hearing is in February 2024. Take a wild guess what the verdict will be?

@SW-User whether he pead insanity or not, he is
Lilymoon · F
@PatKirby He'll never get out thankfully

I feel the parole board's decision can be trusted and is a good one. I recall all those years back when I heard the news of Lennon's assassination and we were all in shock. That night my room mates and I headed over to Zilker Park in Austin, TX for the small vigil that was to be held in Lennon's honor. Well surprise it turned out to be a crowd of over 5,000 fellow vigilants that night, and we all held up our candles together as the enormous crowd spontaneously broke out singing "Imagine" and other songs. Somewhere during "Give Peace a Chance" I saw others finally just lose it and start sobbing. I will never forget that.

Yeah I was a dreamer back then with high ideals that Lennon and other charismatic contemporary artists brought out in us that maybe, just maybe a bit of utopia could be attainable. Well I'm much older now and even though I don't align with everything Lennon said back then, I'm old school and believe you don't just shoot someone because you don't like or agree with them. Killing is wrong and Mark David Chapman is where he belongs. Separated away from society where he can no longer do any harm to the public. The parole board is keeping him there for good reason.

That right there was when the music died for me and my generation. Here's dedicating a shot of whiskey and rye to ole' John who's probably writing his best stuff up there somewhere...

@PatKirby I totally relate. As an 8th grader, this singular event let me know for a fact that the world is NOT such a great place, evil absolutely has us in a stranglehold and there isn't much we can do about it. We CAN, however, at the very least, lock someone up and keep them from doing more damage. I'd rather he be taken out and squashed like the fucking bug he is, but I'll take him dying in prison as a consolation prize.
PatKirby · M
@uncalled4
I don't think he'd be able to survive long on the outside anyway. He'd be back before long.
gdon39 · 46-50, M
Denying him parole is in the publics best interest.
Lilymoon · F
@gdon39 yep
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@gdon39 probably in his best interest too - I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone killed him in recompense.
Lilymoon · F
@Pretzel oh for sure
Snuffy1957 · 61-69, M
Shame someone hasn't caved his head in yet...
Useless piece of shit !!
@Snuffy1957 I am amazed no one has yet. 🤔
kodiac · 22-25, M
After watching this video I'd kill chapman if they let him out[media=https://youtu.be/uVXR2LYeFBI]
Lilymoon · F
@kodiac yep :/

Shame someone hasn't caved his head in yet...
Kind of amazing that no one has. 🤔 @Snuffy1957

One of the first cops on the scene told Chapman he'd just thrown his life away. And that is the case. 42 years in prison is not long enough. A carefully thought-out, cold-blooded murder of a 40-year-old man with a wife and two young sons.
Lilymoon · F
@graphite yeah really sad and shocking
Northwest · M
Interesting. The guy who tried to kill Reagan, and caused his press secretary to die, is out.
Lilymoon · F
@Northwest but this is John Lennon and it was cold blooded
Northwest · M
@Lilymoon Yes, it was planned, but this is John Lennon. The Reagan attempt was also meticulously planned.
Lilymoon · F
@Northwest I think they don't want to let him out for fear of public retribution
I could understand if he’d been aiming for Yoko and missed….but yeah-no this guy should have been fried a long time ago.
Lilymoon · F
@stratosranger haha yep agreed
tindrummer · M
fyi - it costs a lot more to execute than to imprison for life
and imo execution is leniancy
Lilymoon · F
@tindrummer wow really...
Ducky · 31-35, F
Oh, no doubt about it.
Lilymoon · F
@Ducky and the way he went about it too...after getting his autograph. What an Ahole
Ducky · 31-35, F
@Lilymoon Crazed fans. There are plenty out there who are so obsessed, they’d murder their favorite celebrity just to be remembered as the one who killed them.
Lilymoon · F
@Ducky yep :/
Dino11 · M
Let him 'imagine' he is a free man.
PatKirby · M
@Dino11

Here's him imagining freedom from the inside. Look close and you can see how unstable he is and not able to contain that 1000-yard psycho stare.

He’s still alive?
graphite · 61-69, M
@SW-User Chapman was only 23 when he took his trip to NYC. He could live another 30 years.
Lilymoon · F
@SW-User yeah unfortunately haha
Pretzel · 61-69, M
imagine ....if they did
Lilymoon · F
@Pretzel Touchè
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@Lilymoon it's easy if you try
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
Good hes A Piece Of Shit
Lilymoon · F
@JohnOinger that he is!
Why is he even coming up for parole ? He should’ve just received, life, no parole.
Lilymoon · F
@bijouxbroussard yeah and 12 times ... Just throw away the key
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
One of the previous times he came up for a parole, a friend of mine who edits for a major network news show assembled a package that had John belting out "Don't Let Me Down!" Love that guy.

I absolutely believe that he would be slaughtered by someone even more batshit crazy if he were released. That would be unfortunate, wouldn't it?
Lilymoon · F
@uncalled4 yeah he's still missed.

And yeah retribution.. . I almost like the sound of that :/
