Trump Judge stops espionage investigation of Donald Trump

Judge Cannon, appointed by Trump and a Federalist Society member stops espionage investigation. The DOJ can appeal this decision but even if this goes as high as the Supreme Court the decision will be made by more Trump Judges. Will Republican Supreme Court Judges let Trump get away with selling US secrets to keep the Republicans in power? By appointing so many bias Judges is Trump and his family truely above the law.

All the judge did was approve his request for a Special Master. At the very most it is a delay tactic that will likely blow up in his face. But this has not stopped the investigation. It may have made his situation worse because if the Special Master finds anything covered by executive privilege that doesn't mean what Trump seems to think it means. If they find anything that fits that description he basically has convicted himself of violating the Presidential Records Act. So this could go seriously sideways for him. And it is not likely to push things out past the mid terms.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow per your last sentence - it's Labor Day and I'm not so confident
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Temporarily stopping the DOJ from using any of the documents in their investigation. Which means she stopped the criminal investigation and obstruction investigation.
@Pitchblue They already have the documents and knew what they would find. Having them vetted is hardly going to have much of an impact now. It is also not like they are the only avenue of investigation. Heck is own lawyer just went on Fox and appeared to either admit his previous legal team was guilty of obstruction or that Trump is guilty of violating the espionage act. That alone will give them things to dig into. Along with tracking down who has been in and out of the club since he left office. This is not a small issue and his delay tactics are not likely to change much of anything. Also the FBI has people who would have gone through proper procedures knowing what they would find so it is also unlikely this Special Master will find much of anything. It is a desperate attempt to delay. It is not by any stretch a stop to the investigation.

"All the judge did was approve his request for a Special Master."

That's not "all" she did. She's basically laid out the ground work for a claim of executive privilege. However, this is a double edged sword. On the one side, only a sitting president (and certain members of the executive branch) can bestow executive privilege. On the other side, this puts Biden firmly in the crosshairs for the trumpette narrative of:

"this is all political persecution blah, blah, blah"
@room101 The executive privilege thing is ultimately irrelevant because if they do manage to find someone covered under that he is by default guilty of violating the Presidential Records Act because anything that would qualify is property of the US government, not Donald J. Trump. So it is more likely to make things worse for Trump, not better.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow In legal terms, I tend to agree. However, one has to keep in mind why the DOJ has taken so long in all of this. They knew (approx two years ago) that he had taken classified material from the White House but they chose to deal with him in a "polite" manner. Why?

Two reasons: first, he is a former president. This in itself bestows upon him (very undeservedly in my view) a certain level of decorum. Judge Cannon alluded to this when she mentioned the reputational harm involved. Second, the civil unrest likely to be instigated by his fans. Unrest that the whole world witnessed on Jan 6th and, obviously to a lesser extent, the recent attempted attacks on the FBI.

All of which takes us back to my closing point above.
@room101 There is definitely a response to try and protect the integrity of the office or at least the idea of it. The reason this has taken so long is he chose to lie and basically insult everyone's intelligence. Pun intended. With what they found special treatment is why he is having his day in court at all and is not in some CIA hellhole learning the finer points of "enhanced interrogation."

As for civil unrest that is probably being considered but is not a real threat. I mean January 6th was shutdown in a day and that was with Trump tying their hands behind their backs first with his interference with the National Guard orders.

As for the political persecution complaints I doubt anyone cares because it will happen regardless for anything short of a coronation for Trump.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I don't disagree. All I'm saying is that we can't view this ruling in purely legal terms. Judge Cannon certainly didn't, her reasoning is legal gibberish.

I hope that the orange stain on humanity spends the rest of his miserable life in jail. However, that hope is rapidly dwindling🤷‍♂️
@room101 Actually that is exactly how it should be viewed. To do otherwise is to just confirm what Trump and company are complaining about.

And are you a lawyer? How do you know their ruling is not valid? What are you basing that on?

Oh and with what has recently been reported on the documents he stole, best case scenario Trump might be responsible for a way, worst case he may have compromised global security with leaked nuclear information.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow As opposed to slick willie and barry big ears selling nuclear tech to the chicoms?
@sunsporter1649 Random conspiracy theories you found on StormFront and 8chan don't count as facts.

And interesting how a person who calls themselves a marine is supporting the compromise of national security and military readiness. Guess you sold out both the corps and your oath along with your country.

But we both know blaming the brown guy is your excuse for literally everything.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow "Clinton-Approved Computer Exports Help China Build Nukes. With all this talk of Russians allegedly interfering in U.S. elections, it is worth recalling that it wasn’t too long ago that the previous Democrat in the White House betrayed America by working hand in hand with our Communist enemies in mainland China. As president, Bill Clinton essentially wiped out any strategic advantage the U.S. had by selling advanced U.S. missile technology to our enemy, the People’s Republic of China. That “administration’s voluntary release of all the secrets of America’s nuclear tests, combined with the systematic theft of the secrets that were left as a result of its lax security controls, effectively wiped out America’s technological edge,” David Horowitz writes in the recently published, The Black Book of the American Left Volume 7: The Left in Power: Clinton to Obama.

"Not so typical was something that didn't appear that day on the president's public schedule: notification to Congress that he intends to renew a nuclear cooperation agreement with China. The deal would allow Beijing to buy more U.S.-designed reactors and pursue a facility or the technology to reprocess plutonium from spent fuel. It seemed like a typical day for President Obama. He taped a TV interview on trade, hosted the champion NASCAR team on the South Lawn and met with the defense secretary in the Oval Office."
@sunsporter1649 Again, random bullshit you found on white power websites are not relevant.

Good job making excuses for violating your oath and selling out your country. Guess a red hat is all that is needed to make a marine a traitor these days.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The washington compost is a white power bird cage liner? Any more bullschiff you wanna spew?
@sunsporter1649 Lol. Sure. Your "chicom" conspiracy theory comes from a convicted felon and white power moron. Try again.
@sunsporter1649 You are so desperate to change the subject away from the cult leader you betrayed your country for. Something you don't even have the balls to admit.

@sunsporter1649 Again, you can name drop all you want. Doesn't magically make your white power conspiracy theory legit.
@sunsporter1649 Oh and China has had the bomb since 1964. Clinton didn't even get into politics till the late 70s. So it doesn't even make sense on that level.

@sunsporter1649 Random copy/paste tacked onto your racist conspiracy theory is nothing to comprehend. Delusions are not something one tries to understand.
