The average NBA salary is 4.6 Million
The average WNBA salary is 120 Thousand.
Think about that.

I'm assuming they think it's because the WNBA are women therefore they are paid less?

Could it be they are paid according to the interest in the WNBA? Watch a game if you see it on TV, it looks like a high school game with the number of fans in the stands, I think women's college ball has more fans.

The US women's football (soccer) team is the most successful in the history of women's international football. The men's team is not very suucessful at all, but until recently (following a successful lawsuit) the latter were paid three times as much as the former. There is entrenched gender bias in sport.

@Ohyeah3809 Some of it was and some of it wasn't. You are right about the base pay and bonuses, where they intentionally negotiated a different structure than the men (although I think that may since have been changed). But there were also some dramatic disparities in things like travel allowances, quality of accommodations, quality of facilities, and other items. I thought it was one of those interesting situations where there was some truth on both sides. I'm happy they seem to have worked things out.
