Is it really ignorant to stop watching the news?

I've had a Media blackout for quite a while now (except coverage of UK heatwave) and dont really know what's going on in the world.

Strange thing is, I feel carefree and happier not hearing and seeing all the sadness and negativity out there.

I stopped following the news too closely a few years ago. Unfortunately, it's impossible to cut myself off from it entirely. There are so many things that make me feel even more hopeless and depressed than I was normally.
